The District Education Authority has announced an extension of school holidays in flood-affected areas of Pindi Bhattian, Hafizabad.
According to the Chief Executive Officer of Education, classes in 111 villages impacted by flooding will remain suspended until September 12. The decision comes as several school buildings suffered damage from rising waters and will only reopen once declared structurally safe.
The official notification stated that all primary, middle, and high schools in the affected localities will remain closed due to the prevailing flood situation.
Data from the Punjab School Education Department further revealed that 2,925 government schools across the province are currently shut. Among them, 817 have sustained partial damage, 45 have been completely destroyed, and more than 1,700 have been repurposed as relief camps.
