Punjab Launches Probe Into Class 9 Computer Science Textbook Error

The Punjab School Education Department has initiated an investigation after a major error was discovered in the Class 9 Computer Science textbook, where the author mistakenly translated the word “mouse” as chooha (rat).

The mistake was spotted in Chapter 11, titled Computer Science and Entrepreneurship. Following the incident, the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Authority (PCTB) has requested a complete explanation along with all relevant documentation.

The Director of Curriculum and Compliance has also been instructed to provide a detailed report within 24 hours.

In computer studies, the term “mouse” refers to an input device used to control the cursor and navigate a computer. Rendering it literally as chooha distorts the technical meaning, equating it with a common rodent instead of a digital tool.
